				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This post is about the meaning of &#8220;The Road not Taken&#8217; a poem by Robert Frost. In my opinion this poem is all about choices we make all the time in our lives.</p>
<p>It is about <strong>courage</strong> to take the road that is less traveled; its about <strong>being unique</strong>. We have to decide this all the time, and live with those <strong>decisions,</strong> but it is by choosing that we learn from our successes or failures.</p>
<p><strong>&#8216;The Road Not Taken&#8217; meaning</strong> can be a bit different from one person to another.  A friend explained to me that they saw this poem as opportunities lost by taking the wrong path in the wood that could never be undone.  I don&#8217;t see it that way though as to me it is about choices we make whether good or bad and being a bit more adventurous to take a different path to what everyone else is taking; its about having no regrets.</p>
<p>We should be positive and not negative in our thinking and see the &#8216;half full&#8217; glass instead of the &#8216;half empty&#8217; one.</p>

Values development in the areas you consider important to you should be encouraged.  Most people though would value family and friends but the order may be different or even change in your life. Also, <strong>church and spirituality</strong> is also important to many of us and can be our main focus too.</p>

<p>Our lives don&#8217;t run on an even keel, we have ups and downs which are natural.  it&#8217;s how we deal with the bad days.  If we turn to food it could be as comfort to get us through and is a coping mechanism.</p>
<p>The problem we may find with emotional eating is that we are avoiding the solutions to our problems by hiding behind the food. Of course if the problem is a &#8216;one off&#8217; situation it probably wont effect us for long but emotional eating disorder normally is a long term thing.</p>
<p>How can you tell if you are an emotional eater?  Look at the following comfort foods:</p>
<ul>
<li>High fat foods like fried foods</li>
<li>High carbohydrate foods like  pasta dishes</li>
<li>Sugary foods like cake and donuts</li>
</ul>
<p>If you look for these types of foods then you may be an emotional eater.  Acknowledge that and you are on your way to overcoming the problem.</p>
<p>You may feel shame and guilt because you know it is ruining your health and sometimes the feeling that there is no way out compounds these feelings.  There is a way though and if you are serious about beating it then you can.</p>
<p>You may wish to seek help professionally from counseling because emotional eating disorder is really not about your eating habits but getting control of your emotions.</p>
<p>Support from your family and friends also can help you to see you are not facing this problem alone.  They can help you identify triggers.  You can try visualization techniques and relaxation to help you see your problems realistically.  This will help you see food as nutrition instead of an emotional crutch.</p>
<p>Stress management is very important in your strategy to stop emotional eating disorder so keeping your stress levels down will help you from regressing.  Finding new ways to deal with problems will replace this dependence on food and you will feel good at achieving new solutions to your problems.</p>

If you are focused, dedicated and consistent then you are going to see results quicker.  You may need to put in some extra hours to achieve this but just be aware of your stress levels and afterward give yourself some time to wind down again.  Plan your hours to be effective.  Working at night for example may not be beneficial to your outcome or productivity and not the real answer to how to achieve your goal.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a review of  <em>The Secret </em>by Rhonda Byrne who shot to fame with her best selling  movie and self help book  about 10 years ago.  The movie and  book featured over a dozen well known success coaches.  Before this though <em> The Secret</em> really was a well kept secret.   Wallace Wattles also wrote a  book about prosperity about 100 years ago and  I am sure it was part of the inspiration Rhonda drew from to make the movie.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ourselfdevelopment.com/go/11laws"><img class="size-full wp-image-668  alignleft" title="The Secret" src="http://www.ourselfdevelopment.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/The-Secret1.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="284" /></a></p>
<p>Bob Proctor introduced <em>The Secret</em> as  <em>The Law of Attraction</em> because he said that what you think influences what you attract into your life.  Your subconscious mind acts on your thoughts to bring about our reality.  This really was a new concept for most of us.</p>
<p>Here is my own  honest review of  <em>The Secret</em> but I want you to make up your mind if it right for you and whether you want to invest time and finances into purchasing any of the products.</p>
<p>I probably found that the cast of  <em>The Secret</em> was something that I found exciting as it brought together some of the best minds at that time in the self development field.  Names like Jack Cranfield known for his books &#8220;Chicken Soup for the Soul&#8221; and Joe Vitale, Bob Proctor, as I mentioned before, and John Asssaref to name just a few.  Their successes they have<br />
contributed to &#8220;The Law of Attraction&#8221; and emphasized that this has been used throughout history by people like Davinci, Edison and Rockefeller.</p>
<p>Looking at some of these people you can find that they changed their lives by directing their thoughts to what they wanted.  They all also believed that they were connected to the universe which caused us to be linked to everything else.</p>
<p><strong>A word of caution</strong><br />
<em>The Secret</em> was a valuable learning curve but it really didn&#8217;t tell you everything.  If you look at the lives of  those famous people I mentioned what you will find that they were also committed to obtaining their goals and dreams and implemented a plan, were persistent and had a burning desire to achieve it.  <em>The Law of Attraction</em> though only goes so far as &#8216;ask, believe, receive&#8221;.</p>
<p>In conclusion to my review of  <em>The Secret</em> I want to say that I am sure that the people involved know that they are missing a few steps and that really nothing happens without action and persistence.  That said, <em>The Secret</em> is still a great book to have to read and have in your library and the movie is worth seeing as long as you keep those other steps in mind as well to achieve your goals, whether that be success or prosperity.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I love to read but have always wanted to have the ability to read faster or as some call it &#8216;speed read&#8217;.  The problem though is that you want to be able to understand and remember everything you read as well.  Think about how good it would be if you could get through your course quickly or study for exams in less time.   Wouldn&#8217;t that be what you need to give you more time with the things you really like to do?</p>
<p>If you read slowly it was probably something you learned in your school years and that is still probably holding you back.  Take away that &#8216;learned experience&#8217; or turn it around and you will speed up your reading rate.  We often take learned experiences and even new habits into life long practices, so stop that now that you are aware of what you are doing.</p>
<p>Here are 5 speed reading tips to help you do this:</p>
<ol>
<li>Don&#8217;t use your finger or pen to follow the words you are reading as this will slow you down.</li>
<li>Believe it or not when you move your lips when reading, like reading to yourself, you slow your reading speed down.  This is a habit you need to break.</li>
<li>Some people move their head from side to side as they read a page.  This also slows you down.  Try only to move your eyes and not your head.</li>
<li>Learn the skills of skimming a page while concentrating on the main words on the page.</li>
<li>Practice this and it will become easier each time.  This is a bit like anything you are trying to perfect really so the more you practice the better you become.</li>
</ol>

<p>If we take these kinds of men myths as truth and act on them, then we are heading for a failure.  It is better to clear your head of all preconceptions and start afresh.  You can also turn to experts to get new insights to lead you on the right path and prevent mistakes.</p>

<p>What I interpret personally from this tag &#8220;low maintenance&#8221; to mean, would be that she is a more natural woman.  When we say maintenance we usually mean for her hair, nails, clothes, house and car.  Well, this is not true of all men who like their partners to look good and be presented well so this is really a myth.  Many men I know have no problem with their women spending money on themselves to make the most of themselves.</p>
<p>2.  <strong>Falling in love is bliss forever</strong><br />
This is of course  a myth and one that really women perceive and not so much the men.  As we are human and always changing this means the way we feel about things too.  <span style="color: #008080;">F<strong>alling in lov</strong></span><span style="color: #008080;"><strong>e</strong></span> is at first a wonderful feeling but it doesn&#8217;t guarantee bliss and maintaining a relationship is a part of keeping it alive and healthy.  The flush of first love hopefully grows into a strong feeling which will last and not fade.  Don&#8217;t fall into the trap of being in love for the high it brings.</p>
<p>This first stage will pass but hopefully a better, longer lasting relationship will develop.  Nothing runs smoothly, but it is the way we deal with these speed humps that will determine the outcome.  <strong><span style="color: #008080;">Don&#8217;t be unrealistic</span></strong> about your expectations.  Men and women make mistakes, and also come into relationships with habits and views that we may not be able to accept.  So, overall &#8220;bliss forever&#8221; is another one of the  men myths.Not all relationships are forever.  This not always is a bad thing.  Having a <strong><span style="color: #008080;">life partner</span></strong> though is something most women want.</p>

<p><strong>Week 2</strong><br />

This week we are moving on to weeding out those random thoughts.  Simply acknowledge them but this time say it aloud eg &#8220;I am thinking of what I have to tell my daughter tomorrow&#8221;.  As you do this those thoughts vanish.  Again this week you can be doing these mind meditations sitting or lying down.</p>
<p><strong>Week 4</strong><br />
This is your final week and you will be now refining your skills, remaining in that hypnotic type state and clearing your mind of thoughts.  Now though you will be in a state of calm in your body and spirit.  If you find thoughts filtering through just go through the process you did last week.</p>
<p>At the end of this 4 week period you should have mastered the skill of mind meditation and begun seeing the benefits it brings in the form of both sleep, lower stress levels and greater concentration and willpower.</p>

<p>3.  <strong>The natural world holds the key</strong><br />
You need to be connected both physically and <strong><span style="color: #008080;">spiritually</span></strong> with the natural world.  Nature has the most powerful lessons we need to learn.  Nature can bring joy and contentment in our lives as we connect with it.</p>
<p>4. <strong> Look after yourself</strong><br />
Treat your body with respect and look after it.  when you neglect your body you lack energy and often self confidence in the way you look to other people.  Good health will  result from taking care of ourselves.  Think of this as part of your self growth plan.</p>
<p>5.  <strong>Have a strong purpose in life</strong><br />
Having a strong purpose will <span style="color: #008080;"><strong>k</strong><strong>eep you motivated</strong></span> to achieve the goals in your life.  We tend to concentrate on personal or physical goals but spiritually you need to have a central purpose too.  Without a strong purpose it is more difficult to push through at times in your life that are difficult and without it self growth will stall.</p>

The life you want you must manifest by living the lifestyle or live it in your mind.  I find the best way for me to do that is a visual map.  I have one completed on my wall in the kitchen and one in progress in the study.  The kitchen one is completed but I keep it there as a reminder of what can be manifested and the current one is what will be my future.  Make your own visual map either manually and hang it up so you see it everyday or have it as a screensaver on your computer.  You have to see it regularly to have it affect your subconscious mind.</p>
